Official Xena Magazine: Issue 19

XENA MAGAZINE: Are the final two episodes of Xena now scripted, and can you reveal anything at all about the storyline?

DAVE POLLISON: The episodes are scripted but I haven't seen a copy of either of them yet. The storyline is top secret. Only department heads are receiving complete drafts. Actors are only given the scenes that they are in, and everybody associated with the show has had to sign Confidentiality Agreements.

Do the episodes have a title yet?

At the moment, episode 21 is being referred to as ‘Japan I’ and episode 22 has the working title of ‘Japan II’, but rest assured that we’ll come up with more fitting and creative titles soon!

When will the final episode now air and, given its move to June, has the final shooting date of 22 March changed?

The final episode will air the week of 4 June in the US. The final shooting date has now moved back to 30 March.

We know that Ares (Kevin Smith) made his final appearance in Soul Possession, but the character’s final scene is being kept under wraps. Can you tell us anything about this and whether it’s an exciting exit for the character?

Has it never not been exciting?!

We’ll have to wait and see then! Can you tell us any more about the reasons behind the cancellation of season six’s planned musical episode?

The musical was cancelled due to budgetary and logistical problems.

Have you had any positive feedback on South Camelot yet from any of the networks?

Sadly not yet, but we’re confident that the series has potential and I’ll let you know more about it should there be any major developments.
