Official Xena Magazine: Issue 15

XENA MAGAZINE: Now that it’s been confirmed that season six is be the last year of Xena: Warrior Princess, how are things gearing up in the US in preparation for the end of the show? Is there a change of pace in the offices. Are the staff a lot busier than usual?

DAVE POLLISON: Actually things have slowed down quite a bit because Jack of All Trades and Cleopatra 2525 are on indefinite hiatus, and at the time of writing, Xena is also on hiatus.

How do you feel about this being the end of the show? Do you think it’s the right time to end Xena or do you think there’s much more that could be done?

It’s better to go out with a bang instead of a whimper.

How does Xena wrapping up compare with when the end of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys was announced? Is it very different?

It’s about the same as the end of Hercules. We’re known for quite some time that this may be the last season of Xena.

Do you think it’s at all likely we’ll see Xena return in some form or other in the future, either in TV movies or another series featuring characters from the existing Xenaverse?

In the Xenaverse nobody can be truly dead, and in the world of television, anything’s possible.

How will the end of the show affect you personally and the Pacific Renaissance Pictures production offices in Los Angeles as a whole? Will there be staff changes or will the writers and producers just move other to other Renaissance projects?

Well personally, I won’t have to answer these questions any more! As far as the staff on Xena go, they’ll find work on other shows - maybe ours, maybe someone else’s. But to be honest, for the staff at Renaissance Pictures’ main office there will be very few if any changes as a result of Xena ending.
